Driving Directions from Local Airports
Charlottesville Airport (CHO)
There is a courtesy shuttle between the Doubletree Hotel and the Charlottesville airport. It's about a 20-minute ride.
You can take a taxi to Sponsors Hall. It should cost about $25.
Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA)
Follow signs to the George Washington Memorial Parkway North. Stay on the parkway for about a mile. Exit onto 395 South towards Richmond. Take exit 8B to 110 North (Jefferson Davis Highway), towards Rosslyn. After a couple of miles, exit onto I-66 West, towards Front Royal/Dulles Airport. See directions from I-66.
Dulles International Airport (IAD)
Take the first exit after leaving the airport onto State Route 28 South towards Centerville. Follow Route 28 for approximately 8.5 miles to Route 66 West. See directions from I-66.
From Richmond International Airport (RIC)
Turn right onto S. Airport Drive, following signs for Route 64. Turn right onto the entrance ramp for I-64 West. Stay alert, because I-64 and I-95 are merged for a few miles and you don't want to accidently end up on I-95. You'll need to take exit 79 to follow Route I-64 West. See directions from I-64.
Driving Directions
Take exit 40 onto Route 15 South (James Madison Highway). Route 15 merges with Route 29 South after about a mile. Follow Route 29 South for about 70 miles towards Charlottesville.
- Doubletree Hotel: About 1.5 miles before the Charlottesville city limits you will cross the South Fork Rivanna River Bridge. After crossing the bridge, turn right at the first traffic light onto Hilton Heights Road.
- Sponsors Hall: Follow Route 29 into Charlottesville. When 29 passes under the U.S. 250 Bypass in Charlottesville, it becomes Emmet Street and passes the Barracks Road Shopping Center on the right. Beyond the shopping center, turn right at the traffic signal for Massie Road. Pass University Hall on the left and continue through one traffic signal. The Darden School's entrance is on the left, just past the North Grounds Recreation Center. Parking permits are available from the receptionist in the Gatehouse. There are several temporary parking spaces to the right as you enter Darden Grounds for use while you obtain a parking permit.
Driving Directions from I-64 (West Virginia, Richmond, Eastern Virginia)
Charlottesville is about 1 hour west of Richmond and about 1/2 hour east of Route 81.
- Doubletree Hotel: From I-64 either East or West take exit 118B onto Route 29/Route 250 Bypass. Stay on the Route 29 Bypass for approximately 4.5 miles, until you see a sign for Washington, DC and 29 North. Exit onto Route 29 North and go for 3.5 miles. Turn left into Hilton Heights Road. The hotel is on the next to Sam's Club and Wal-Mart.
- Sponsors Hall: From I-64 either East or West take exit 118B onto U.S. Route 29 North. Stay on the Route 29 Bypass and take the U.S. Route 250 Business/Ivy Road exit. Turn right at the end of the ramp, continue to the second traffic signal and turn left onto Copeley Road. (Alderman Road is the right-hand turn at this intersection.) Pass University Hall on the right and turn left onto Massie Road at the first traffic signal. The Darden School's entrance is on the left, just past the North Grounds Recreation Center. Parking permits are available from the receptionist in the Gatehouse. There are several temporary parking spaces to the right as you enter Darden Grounds for use while you obtain a parking permit.
