Fascinating Noise: Soundscape Architecture and New York City

January 15, 2014

Karen Van Lengen’s Soundscape Architecture explores sounds in architecture, aiming to help users become more aware of the acoustic qualities of architectural spaces. Her project offers visual, musical, and analytical representations of familiar iconic spaces. The project is now being featured in a interview by Varick Shute, Digital Editorial Director of The Architectural League in Urban Omnibus. Prof. Van Lengen discussed her project, and the importance of listening, with Ms. Shute while walking through Grand Central Station and the New York Public Library Reading Room.

The Architectural League is a group dedicated to advancing the art of architecture, looking to present the work and ideas of interesting and influential architects and designers. Urban Omnibus is an online publication focused on urban life and landscaping.
