Architect and Planning Committees Seek Public Comment on Future of Renovated Alderman Library

February 2, 2018

The UVA Library has announced eight open sessions for UVA faculty, staff, and students and the Charlottesville community to discuss the future of Alderman Library with the architects and planning commission for the Alderman renovation. The 90-minutes sessions will be held on February 7, 8, 21, and 22, and are intended to let Alderman patrons and occupants to provide the renovation team with their input and ideas.

HBRA Architects seek discussion on the uses of the library as both a physical space and a research environment. Sessions earlier in the month (February 7-8) will be framed around informing an initial concept for the future of Alderman Library, whereas the later sessions (February 21-22) will focus on revisiting previous planning and welcoming new ideas to flesh out and adapt the renovation plan as it comes into focus. Library users are encouraged to attend as many sessions as they wish. There will also be an online survey for interested people who cannot attend the meetings.
